Twisted Fun!

So remember a week or so back when I shared with you the earrings I made myself?

Well I made myself a necklace too. :)

Devlin helped me pick all of the beads for this one. He started off with those lime green rounds, and then we went on to the champagne rounds, ecru pearls and clear bicones.

He's got such a good eye for color. He's so much better at it than his father, Love you STEVE! Steve can't help that he's color blind. :)

So here's the necklace I whipped up in about an hour.

What do you guys think?

I really like the simplicity of it.

Not to mention the sparkle. :)

Oh and this is not an original design. I was following directions from this book
The original one was done in red, white and blue, which is kind of funny because the earrings I made were originally in those colors as well.

See you guys tomorrow!

Have you guys ever been to Charming Charlie?

I love that store. I would buy that store, if I had an unlimited amount of money.

For those of you who don't know what Charming Charlie is - its a terrific jewelry/accessory store, and its affordably priced. Love!

But if I were to buy everything that my magpie fingers wanted, I'd go broke, and I'd have a pissed off hubby. :)

But you know when I go to Charming Charlie, I get a little gun shy because there are so many options that I'm overwhelmed. Shocking, I know, but I am not alone in this feeling. Dana felt this way as well. I know cause I talked  to her through most of her adventure to Charming Charlie down in GA.

I then got the thinking that a lot of the styles that I like, I can make. Its not hard. It might be expensive if I go with Swarovski crystals, but Michael's has Crystazzi. A nice knock-off. So with my 20% coupon in hand, along with the sale that Michael's had last week on jewelry, I got quite the beginnings of a jewelry making empire. :)

So after several trial runs, all of which was given away to my sisters (HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY GUYS!) and my Mom, I decided to bust out the pattern that I've been drooling over for 2 weeks. :)

Adorable, right? I love them. Well except for the red, white and blue thing. I don't do a lot of those colors. At least not together. So I altered it slightly. One alteration was intentional, the other....not so much. :)

So here's my interpretation:

The intentional change was the color change. I went with navy, smoke and clear, because I wear jeans 90% of the time. I figure they'll go with almost everything.

The unintentional change was the hoop size. The pattern called for a 1-1/2" hoop, but I could only find a 1" hoop, which meant eliminating some of the spacers. I probably could have removed some of the groupings and streamers, but I didn't feel like it. :)

So what do you guys think? I  like them. Now I need to get back to sewing.
