A Promise is a Promise...

4/21/2011 1 Comments
So I had planned on at least trying to improve the tablescape, but didn't happen. Yesterday was so busy!

Mom is not cleared to drive yet, but she doesn't need surgery {score!!}; however she is still only in the splint and ace bandage for another week.  So the boys and I were her chariot service yesterday. We had a lot of fun, and I got some of my errands done too, but when we did get home there was very little time to get everything done. So it didn't all get done, some because  of time and some because of lack of tools.

So without any further yammering on my part - Here's the Easter tablescape. Not my best work, but passable I think. :)

I wrapped some easter eggs in jute and then nested them in my great-grandmother's salt glazed bowl. I love this bowl. :)

I do love me some crystal! The glasses are some that the hubs had, and then the vase was a wedding gift. :)

.
This little cordial came from my mother-in-law. I love how delicate it is. :)
This bowl is also from my MIL, and I think the pattern on it is reminiscent of the stemware from my great-grandmother.
I do love this flower arranger thingy. :) I also like it sitting inside that pretty PB  tray with some shredded paper around. :)

So that's the table. Next month, I am going to try harder. :)

Have a great day guys! Oh and don't forget to check out the facebook page  for random comments about the current projects I'm working on!

Egg Hunt Mantle

4/11/2011 2 Comments
Sorry for the delay with today's post, but we had an exciting day yesterday. I had my first Tastefully Simple party {yay!} and then the boys and I went over to Mom and Dad's for dinner, which was lovely! Then we all got  ice cream and Harrison ate some of everyone's.  Then we had some more excitement that I'll share more later.

Anyways, I'm so excited to show off the Easter mantle. I decided as I was pulling it all out and putting it together that an Egg Hunt would be my theme, so without any further ado here's my mantle!

My original plan was to have hyacinths in those vases, but the hyacinths died before I could get the mantle finished.
 Love all those pretty colors!
Here are some delphinium stalks and my apothecary jars full of eggy goodness :)

How many eggs have you counted so far?
 Here's the 'B'! Love my B!
 Here's the full frontal!
Well I hope you guys liked my little egg hunt today. I'll talk to y'all later. :)

Finishing Touches!

Well like I said in yesterday's post it was high time that February left my house. Well, per my usual routine, I couldn't very well  decorate the dining room and not the mantle family room. So without a lot of chatter lets just jump in. :)

By the way.....Picture laden post. :) Oh and I couldn't make up my mind about my paper cone wreath. You see my mantle was actually done for a week with a bare wreath. I didn't want to share the mantle with you till it was perfect, but then one morning the light was perfect so I snapped some shots. Then that evening lightening struck and luckily the next morning we had lovely lighting again. So here are my shots of both mornings.  And I do believe the theme for this month's scapes is Family or moving all available picture frames out of the reach of some small fry that is now enamored of climbing.

Yep that's the moss wreath from my bedroom. Yes the mirror above my headboard is bare, but no worries. I have plans to rectify that! Here are some more shots!
I do love my 'B'. :) Oh so you guys probably want some close-ups of those pictures, huh?
These are my faves. :) The picture of Dev was snapped by Steve while Dev was trying to wheedle something or other from him. H's picture was taken by my father-in-law, which was a perfect timing kind of thing, and then the picture of all 4 of us was snapped by my good friend during our annual family photo session. :)

So the next round of pictures are of my sofa table . The hubs bought me some lovely flowers that needed some picture love. ;-)

I love these candid shots of the boys, and in case its not evident - Harrison is happy in that picture, but he's just making his scrunchy, snorty happy face. :) Don't babies make the cutest faces? I love Dev's contemplative look too. So sweet.

Oh and there is another table. The console! Yep, almost every picture in the downstairs of the house got moved, because of this one.
He's so deceiving! You know what?!? With Dev I did not EVER have to move a single picture frame or vase or phone or anything. He didn't touch my touch stuff. He yelled at people who touched Mommy's stuff. He was an angel and perfect and helps me arrange everything. He has a good eye, and good ideas. I listen. I listen because it makes him feel important and special, and if I don't quite like it all I deal. Because he'll be happy. However, we are not happy that the small fry above likes to DESTROY. In fact, one of his more common nicknames is DESTRUCTO. How can a boy look so angelic and be such a force of destruction?!? When someone has the answer please let me know. Anyways, so back on point, here's the console. :)
Look! You can see small fry thinking about touching something!! Argh, at least everything else is safe. Its more crowded than I usually like or even decorate, but its a necessary evil. Its necessary because of small destructive force. Dear Lord, please let him grow out of this soon!

Have a great day gals!

Getting Distracted...

3/07/2011 5 Comments
So as most of us have children, small children that is, we know what its like to constantly be on guard or at least exercising our peripheral vision. While I was trying to dress my dining room for March, it was high time February left, I was having to keep one eye on Harrison.

Why do you ask?

Because he's an imp. A quiet imp. A quiet imp until he wants to be heard. I will now share with you my March tablescape and why it took me twice as long as normal to set up. Commentary to commence. :)

I am loving how the table came together. I wanted to create a feeling of an early morning garden party, replete with crystal and bamboo. :)
Look who's sitting oh so nicely just off to the left. Oh wait...what do you have? Your brother's DS. This is not going to go well. Don't you just love the afternoon sun streaming in. Yes, today was PJ day. :) A lot of days are PJ days.
A pretty shot of the table. The smaller glass was my great grandmother's. The larger crystal glass was a great find by the hubs before we were married at Big Lots. :)
The gold platter is from my grandmother's china set, and the clear plate is also from my great-grandmother's set.
I can't forget about my red table! I love my red table. I love the forsythia with the dogwood branches.
This book was my great-grandmother's. I love the patina on it. :)
I filled the crystal vase with fake ice chips. I like the effect. Reminds me of the frosty mornings we're still having.
Guess who's still sitting just off camera. Still with the DS. At least it looks like he's closing it. He doesn't look guilty at all does he?
I love my little bird cages.
These are some plain white napkins that I picked up from Home Goods several years ago. Mom embroidered the ornate 'B' on them in white for me. One of the best investments ever.
More forsythia! Oh and I added some of those fake ice chips to the copper plate to add a little more interest and sparkle underneath the centerpiece.
Oh what's this! Someone wants to be noticed. He got my attention all right. Still with the DS. Told you he was mischievous.
Just another shot of my oh-so-pretty table. Love the afternoon sun streaming in. Kind of makes me want to throw a tea party.

Won't you join me? :)

Have a great day gals!
