I cannot tell you guys how excited I am to share this with you!

Remember the auction haul from last year?

Wha!?!? You don't remember? Well let me just jog your memories. :)
There's the bed! The one off to the right.

It needed some love. The veneer was destroyed on the footboard and the finish had seen better days. I fixed the worse of the veneer damage with some wood epoxy, but then here's where the trouble started. The epoxy wouldn't take the stain or any color, which threw a huge monkey wrench in my plans.

I had originally wanted to show off the detail of the scroll work by having the upholstery only go to the line created by the scroll work, but because of the veneer damage on the footboard I  couldn't do that. The color difference was too great, so I decided the best way to deal with the veneer problem was to cover it up - completely.

So the first thing I did was cover the pieces with some high loft batting, and I stapled sporadically around the piece. The just cut around the edges. I made sure to not cut to close in, because you can always take more off, but you can't put it back on.
So next was the vinyl. I spread the vinyl over the entire piece and then began to staple every few inches for about 8 inches. Then I pulled the vinyl taut from the opposite side and staple a few inches like I did before. Then I moved to one side and pulled that side taut against the edge and lay down a few staples. I do the same for the last side, afterwards I just move around the piece, smoothing and pulling on the vinyl and stapling it down. After all that I just trim around the staples, trying to get as close to the staples as possible.
 Then it was time to bust out the glue gun.

Until it broke. Crap! I had an O-ring fall out of my glue gun, but it was still working - kind of.

Even though I had to manually feed the glue sticks through the gun, I got the flexible braid adhered.

I am loving the look!
 I love this bed! I almost wish I hadn't told my friend that I'd sell it to her, but I did, and she's got it all set up already in her guest bedroom.

I love it! I really like the red against the warm tones of the brown, and the worn look of the vinyl is perfect. :)

So yesterday I posted up the spring mantle, and I am loving all the sweet comments on it. What the pictures don't show is how long the mantle, console and dining room table sat in disarray.

I try to not to buy anything for any of the scapes that I do around the house. So in the theme of reusing here's the spring tablescape.

I tried to make it a little manly because of Dad's day coming up, but because I did miss Mom's day I did end up including a few feminine touches.

So tell me what you guys think!
 The ruby glass plates are from my MIL. Can anyone see them being used in say a month or so? :)
 These rocks are usually down in a candlescape, but Harrison has decided to sprinkle them all around the house, so I decided to rescue them from him and put them on the table. :) 
 Birdcages! I love those birdcages. :)
 I decided to layer the copper and silver platters I have. I like the effect :) 
And the sideboard. I love this little cabinet. I decided to set it up for drinks in my PB tray.

So what do you guys think? I think I did good, even if I do say so myself. :)

So with everything going on, I totally forgot to decorate for Momma's Day, but at least the house will look nice for Dad's day! :)

Oh but I'm also going to need ya'll's help. You'll notice something missing. So here's the family room right now. And yes, all of these pictures were edited to hide the mess!

Did you see what was missing? Look at the paper cone wreath.

Did you remember? Yep, the Moss B died. It committed suicide, and scared the children in the same process. I could fix the B but I don't know if I want to put it back up there.

What do you guys think? What should go up there?

Those flowers had been over in our butler's pantry area, but now they're going to hide the subwoofer.

So I remember when I was little I loved getting Highlights Magazine. I loved it because it was my mail and I loved the games, especially seek and finds.

Well I have a similar thing for you guys today. :)

You know that I've moved my computer into my closet in my sewing room (which is supposed to be a 4th bedroom in our house), which freed up A LOT of space. I mean tons of space. You guys remember my old desk right?

 It was a big desk.  Now it's this.
So all of that space in the corner is free. I have been purposely trying not to show you this room, because its not done. I have one project left to do. I'm sure you'll be able to guess what it is. Oh and you can probably notice a few other changes from the above two pictures, but we'll get to that at a later date. :)

So here's what the corner looks like now.
Something is definitely missing, but wait! Oh what's this? There's something even further wrong. Can you see it? Let me get you a closer look!
Do you see it now? Someone or something messed up my serger. Do you know what a pain in the rear threading a serger is? I do. I hate it. I will tie the new thread to the thread I'm changing out just so I don't have to rethread it. It looks like I may have no choice now. Dangit.

I wonder who the culprit is. Its probably not Devlin. He's been jonesing to make more birds. I do not sew while sitting on the floor. He has to wait. So that rules him out. Stephen doesn't go in my room, unless it's to fix something or come look at something I've done. So that's his alibi. Who does that leave? Oh, I forgot. I have a clue!
DUN DUN DUUUUUUUN.  That's an awfully small foot for somebody other than Harrison. This is our living room. Its a wreck, because I'm working on another project in here, but I have a feeling that since he got a hold of the camera, he is probably the one who got a hold of my serger. Obv, I lightened this photo so you could see that cute foot of his. :)

For those of you wondering. No we cannot get the machines turned on. They are off, the power strip they are plugged into is off, but the power strip itself is not plugged in. So no worries there.

Well I'm going to go facebook some, then I'm going to work on my other project, THEN I'll get to building me a new sewing table. Such a busy day ahead of me. :)

So for a while now I have kind of wanted to have a third baby so that we could try for a girl. Now, of course, if we had a third boy I'd have been thrilled, but you see there have been 5 generations of women in my family that have learned to sew from their mother's.

I was feeling left out, because I have no girls, and right at this moment I do not want another kid. Between Harrison and Devlin over the last month, I've had my fill of tantrums, bad behavior, attitude and whole host of other annoyances.

Devlin is in the middle of an electronic restriction, for behavior last weekend, but I'm not going to lie when he asked me on Monday if I could teach him to sew that my heart didn't melt a little bit.

My husband told me that my sewing machine is electronic, but I told him it'd be a good skill for Dev to have and I would really, really like to teach him. Who needs a daughter when your son is asking you to teach him what you love. So we agreed that I should teach him, but I was told to keep my temper.

You see, I am NOT a teacher. I get frustrated very easily when people don't try as hard as I do, but this turned out to be a non-issue this time, because Dev tried harder than I've seen him do in a long time, and I am SO PROUD!

So without further ado, let me introduce Dev's first sewing project!
We decided to make some angry bird plushies, using the pattern and instructions from Obsessively Stitching.  Here are some more  pictures of my guy!
 The red bird was done a few days ago, and has already been loved on. A lot. But he's holding up! We finished the bluebird yesterday, and he was supposed to be for Harrison, but he's really not that interested, so Devlin has adopted him as well.

This project was a lot fun, not only because Dev stitched all of the seams on the bird's body, but because I got to practice my free-motion quilting on the their faces, which I desperately needed.

Next up is the yellow angry bird, then the black one, and some where in there I'll get to make the shirt I'd like to for Steve. :) I may need to invest in a machine for Dev if he keeps this up. :)

I may be a little biased, but my boys are too handsome for words.

Like I said, I may be a little biased. :) But take a look for yourselves, what do you think? Are they not handsome?

 My girlfriend snapped some new shots of the guys modeling their brand spanking new shorts outfits. I think I did a good job on the shorts even if I do say so myself. :)

 I love making the guys clothes for a couple of reasons: 1) children's clothes are always quick and dirty, 2) they're so easily customizable.

Notice the baby welting around those front pockets? Yep, my addition. There was a lot of plaid. I  wanted to break it up. I'm glad I did.

By the way, I am NOT cutting Harrison's hair. Its gorgeous, and I'm not gonna do it. Just puttin' that out there for anyone who tells me I need to cut his hair {this would be at you dear husband}. :)  You can keep cutting Dev's hair though, you did a good job. :)

I have no idea why Harrison decided to look so menacing in these pictures, but I guess he was getting tired of having his picture taken. I do have to say that I have never seen anyone run as much as Tina did while trying to snap these pictures. I wish I could post all of them, but if you go through Harrison's pictures its like looking through a flip book. :)

By the way - the above look on Harrison....TOTALLY HIS FATHER! Just puttin' that out there. :)

Oh and for anyone on my side of the family - Poor Dev has the Fisher ears, don't you think? :)
I have to say that I was not sorry to have this photo session over. It was by far the most trying and exhausting one yet, and I'm sure they're only going to get better from here. ;-)
