Wow, it's already time for another Fit 4 Thursday post? Wasn't it last week like a second ago?
For time to be flying by so fast, I must be having a blast. Or I'm just busy.
It could be just busy.
Training is kicking into higher mileages, school is about to start, and summer is winding down. Why is my calendar getting full again?
Despite all of that, I'm super excited to share this week's recipe. I found this recipe last year, during my first half training and changed it a bit to suit me.
Let me introduce you to my favorite recovery smoothie. It's so good, especially after a long run.
On my old blog, Straight Stitches, my sister, Dana, had a weekly feature called Friday's Food Frenzy.
My sister has come a long way in the kitchen department. As kids, she would melt gummy bears and then eat them with a ring pop. Yuck.
Thankfully, she's beyond this.
Now she's married and has a gluten-free household. My brother-in-law, her husband, suffers from Celiac. She has made sacrifices that I don't know I could.
So today I'm sharing with y'all a recipe she shared a few years ago.
Seeing as how I have so many interests and in yesterday's post the husband very wisely suggested having a plan, Thursdays will be reserved for fitness and health related posts. It could be a super, yummy good-for-you recipe (that might be parent approved, but not kid approved), or dialogues about training plans, exercise routines, etc.
Monday will also be about fitness, but it'll be a recap of the previous week's training, my goals for the week and my motivators. It will mostly be about me, and Thursday's will be about you. That's fair, right?
After mulling over my quandary, and then talking to the husband about said quandary, he gave me some direction.
Don't just fly by the seat of your pants. You're a planner. Have a plan.
So then the brainstorming began, and after batting some ideas around, I'd like to welcome you to the very first What to Eat Wednesday!
The plan is to share recipes that I like, and that have been family-approved.
The approval may not be unanimous though. We do have a picky eater in the house. If he could, I think he'd try and survive off of PBJs and Mac 'N Cheese.
I am super excited to share the recipe for today. Its one of my favorites and is the 2nd best way to eat up the ricotta I made yesterday.
When we moved into our house 6 years ago, I knew that our kitchen was going to be a deep red. I had seen a model home, in our area, with antiqued white cabinets and walls the color of autumn maple leaves. I was smitten. That was the kitchen I wanted.
Well, I didn't get antiqued white cabinets, but I did get the wall color. I loved it. It made me happy. Then last year, I started to have stirrings of wanting a lighter, brighter kitchen, but I still loved the red. I just wanted to be able to work in the kitchen without having to turn on a light.
So this is what the kitchen looked like 4 years ago. Right after we finished tiling the backsplash.
I used to be really good at this blogging thing. Ok, maybe not good, but at least competent.
I had lists, plans, and a direction. Now I kind of feel like a bag of bouncy balls has been released inside my brain, and they're all clamoring for attention. All of those little ideas wants to be let out now. They want to show the world what they can do, or at least get out of my brain, so its a little less cluttered.
A lot has happened since October last year, but I'm going to talk about my approach to fitness. I actually dislike that phrase a lot. Approach to fitness. Am I stalking it? Is it prey? A pretty bird that needs to be in a zoo somewhere? Is it a disease?
My name is Heather, and I'm a dabbler. I have a lot of hobbies, but my passions are family, sewing, running, and drinking massive amounts of coffee.
My sister, Dana, pops by the blog fairly often, and showcases pretty fabulous recipes, along with her running adventures. Dana is an indie author, with several books under her belt.
Words by Dana is her blog where she talks about her writing, books she's read, and her adventures in being an indie author.
