My Favorites and a Winner

8/16/2010 2 Comments
Thank you to everyone who linked up! This was so fun and quite the learning experience. I've never used inlinkz before, so that was fun. There are lots of information on the back end of those. And after figuring out how to utilize it all, I discovered that we had a three way tie! Oh my!

Let first show y'all a few highlights. :)

This adorable sock horse was submitted by My Busy Craft Life.

These adorable bags from the Thrifty Ba for new teacher gifts, but they'd be super useful at Christmas too!

Love this birthday card from [Frame Fanatic]! Just think of all the possibilities with repetition with all of the holidays coming up!

So here the entries in the three-way tie:
Shell necklace from Singing Three Little Birds. Love the simplicity of this!

What an adorable original design from Anne's Antics! Love me some eyelet!

These adorable twin outfits are also from Anne's Antics. Love all the ruffles and ties!

So you guys are probably wondering how I decided the tie between these three....Well, I didn't. Random.Org did, and it picked no. 3 which was the I'm Back Dress (no. 2 up there in the tie).

Congratulations Anne!

I will be contacting you later!

Thank you again for all of the entries, and I hope that you guys enjoyed as well. Have a great day and enjoy!

One Ends Another Begins!

I've been bad....I've been holding off on picking a winner for the $20 GC for naming my guest bedroom. Its not that I didn't want to pick someone, its just that I had a hard time deciding. Well, I've finally decided and I know this because I haven't changed my mind in the last 24 hours about my decision. Yep, that's how I'm basing this....if I don't change my mind then that must be it. :)

I'm going with Traveling Thrifter's idea to name the room after Burnley, however; I'm not going to be going with anything fancy. I'm simply going to put a sign above the door that reads: Burnley Dairy Farm, circa ??. Hrm...well luckily Saturday is the 102nd or the 103rd Fisher Family Reunion. I can ask one of my relatives when Burnley was built.

So here's my other news.....CSN contacted me again about hosting another giveaway, and because I love each and every one of my crafty comrades I heartily agreed! As most of you of know CSN has mountains of affordable priced items, including bedroom furniture sets!

It's just so convenient that we were talking about bedrooms. :) So here's some of what CSN offers....

I love the shape of this lamp! Find it here!

Such a pretty little accent shelf

These little jewelry cases would look lovely on any vanity!

So here's what I'm thinking for the giveaway. Lets have a linky party. I've never had one....I'm feeling left out. :) So next Wednesday, that should be enough time right? So next Wednesday, I'll post up a linky party that will last until Thursday AM, and then Thursday at noon, I'll randomly pick one of the entries using random.org and that will determine our winner. I'll also pick some highlights from the party.

So what should our party be about? Well, honestly, I haven't thought that far ahead, so you know what....as long as its family friendly then you can post it up. Recipes, Thoughts, Crafts, Weight Loss, Blog Design...whatever. Whatever you're proud of or what to show off. I want to see!

So let the fun begin! Have a great day and enjoy yourselves!

Updating the format...

Hey all! In case you missed it....there's a new look about the 'ole blog. I have no reason other than I got bored with the other one. :) There are a few bugs....and I don't know how to fix them, because they work on the 'test' blog. The date is off in chrome, but works in IE and in IE the background doesn't like to show up. Go figure. Oh well. I'm still going live with it. :) Oh, just in case you want to see what the date should look like...go here. It's cute, and I miss it, but I don't get why its not working.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the changes, or if you know how/why my issues are occurring...I'd appreciate all the feedback you can offer. :)

In other news.....the DIY Club voting is up, and the floor candlesticks I made last week are one of the top ten. I wish all the contestants this month luck, and I'm asking that all of you wonderful gals go over and vote for your favorite. Go Vote Here! I'll wait. :)

Ok, glad you're back. I missed you. I really did. :) So we got a LOT of work done this weekend and between Stephen, Evan (our very good friend) and I we're exhausted. Two nights of working till about 3am and then another late night has taken its toll on all of us, but our efforts have been rewarded and I will show all of you our progress throughout the week.

I hope y'all had a wonderful and productive weekend! Have a great day and enjoy it!

My Very First Quilt!

6/14/2010 3 Comments

Warning! Photo Heavy Post!

Way back in April Obsessively Stitching started posting detailed instructions on how to make your first quilt, and I followed along, at least up until my master bedroom redo. Then I had to play catch-up, but today, over at Caroline's blog, she is having a My Very First Quilt show! You all should definitely check it out and see all the beauties. :)

Here is a little photo time line of my quilt.

The quilt sat in this state for about a month......I picked her up again on Thursday.

So there's the timeline. It took me longer than it should have, but it was fun! :)

And in other news -

Don't forget to leave a comment in the $40 CSN giveaway post - HERE!
I also have found a new favorite quote -
I am only as strong as the coffee I drink and the hairspray I use.
I don't use that much hairspray, but my coffee consumption more than makes up for it! :)

The craft room clean-up is going. I need pink spray paint, it's on the errand list, because I can't finish without it. Why does inspiration strike at the worst possible moment? Like when I'm not prepared. :)

And last, but not least!
The DIY Club's voting is up! I am rooting for all of the contestants, and wish them all good luck. My project (Baseball Defined Coasters) is #8. So please do all of us entrants a favor and vote for your favorite! VOTE
HERE! One vote per person!

Enjoy,

Number Round-Up!

5/20/2010 12 Comments
Ok so yesterday was interesting, in a good way, well most of it. :) Let me start off on the right foot, however.

Reminders

The DIY Club voting ends today, so make sure you have your vote in! Make sure to comment in yesterday's post, because Saturday morning I will be picking a winner from them.

So now on to the rest of it!

I am excited because I was featured on Remodelaholic! Yay! She featured the big mirror project. I am also {still} working on my master bedroom. I'm in the process of doing a lot of sewing. Did you know that a king size duvet is humongous?!? I did, I know I did, but I don't think I realized just how much and how heavy all that fabric would be. I can't wait until it's done. After that, I have some Euro Shams to do up, some more painting to do, and some sprucing up. However, the last might be hard to accomplish, because I am looking for some Minwax Antique Oil Finish, and every time I think about googling it....I'm no where near my computer, and there are just some things I refuse to do with my phone. :) Be that as it may, I am going to finish my room this weekend! I. AM. I should have the duvet sewn up tomorrow and the pillows should be a breeze, two simple pillows with welting, and then painting more pillow cases. I had thought about doing regular shams, but I'll see if the bed needs them. I was going to paint our dressers, and that may still happen. In the future. Very far away future.

Here's what I did today, just so I could accomplish something. :) In the time it took us to watch a DVR'd episode of Desperate Housewives, I revamped a lamp (hey, that rhymes!) for Dev. After is was done he gave it a stamp of approval. :)

Look lamp guts! And the first idea had for the lamp shade.

Here's idea 2 for the the shade. I like these bigger numbers better. I created a document in CS3 and made it as wide as the largest circumference around the lamp. then I skewed the tops of the numbers to match the circumference of the top. My shade was about 10 inches in diameter on the bottom, 8 inches in diameter on the top and 7 inches tall. So I made my document 31 inches wide by 7 inches tall. I skewed the top of the text so that it was only about 25 inches wide. I saved the file as a jpeg and then opened up the file in Paint, because Paint will print pages continuously instead of just cutting them off. Just tape the pages together to form the big document.

Here's the 1st idea for the bigger numbers. I cut slits in the top and bottom of the strip of paper; thinking that I could wrap the numbers inside the shade and it would conform to it. Ha!

So here's idea 2, since idea 1 did not work. Cut the numbers out individually.

I then taped the numbers to the inside of the lamp, spacing them as evenly as possible. I don't have pictures of me taking a Sharpie and coloring them in, nor do I have pictures of me spray painting the base navy blue.

Here are the completed pictures!

Oh and the the not so fun part of today, was when I was showering and a piece of hair got tangled between my fingers (I hate that) and while trying to untangle it, I noticed that it was not as dark a shade of brown, one could even say it was {gray}! Ugh, guess what I'm doing on Sunday.

I'm sorry for the long post today but, you know, sometimes it can't be avoided. I hope you guys have a wonderful day!

What an Amazing Week!

5/18/2010 0 Comments
So I know it's only Tuesday, but it has been a spectacular week already!

First, I get notified that my Beveled Mirror Project was chosen as a top 10 project for the DIY Club this month. All of the projects are beautiful and I encourage everyone to vote for their favorite. My project is number 33. Good luck to all the entrants!

Secondly, I've hit 75 followers, and that means it's give-away time! I will  post the details tomorrow about what is going to be on the block. It was actually supposed to be 74 followers, but by the time I wrote this post....it was 75. :)

Thirdly {is thirdly a word?}, my husband, girlfriend, Mom and I have started a blog together. We're going to be joining forces and pressuring each other to get healthy and lose weight. We've called our blog, Muffin Top. I hope you'll stop by, visit and offer any insight or encouragement. Each of us are tackling our weight loss differently, well hubby and I are both doing Power 90, so it will be interesting to see how well each program works for each of us. :)

I hope each of you have a wonderful day. I'm sure I'll be nursing some soreness. :)
